I feel like I’ve found the best frying pan ever. Bad pans are frustrating and a waste of time, save yourself a headache and checkout Tramontina’s pans. Let me save you some time and link over to the pans I specifically bought here. Photo to our right is linked. Do note, that the opinions in this post are 100% real, but my links are affiliate links.
Why did I start looking for pans?
So, I’m not a professional cook. But, like every other human, I need to eat. Something I AM good at is saving time and making my life a little bit easier. I’m also generally pretty good at product research better known as Googling.
My pan research kicked off because it was my week to meal prep in our home. My partner and I switch off from week to week. During meal prep, I always try to use my favorite pan. I’d hilariously spend a ton of time just figuring out which dish to cook with my favorite pan. I’d eventually end up using the pans everyone in my home hates with the crispy black stuff I could never get off. Let me take a couple steps back.
I had just come from lurking on a post that asked the general internet, “what are some things you’ve recently done to improve your quality of life?” Tons of folks contributed and the responses were honestly kinda inspiring. I’m not saying it changed my life or something wild, but it brought some slight annoyances to light. One person mentioned buying multiples of their favorite shirt so they could wear their favorite shirt every day for example.
So, this was top of mind as I went forward with my weekend’s errands and spun up some random food for my busy week. I was about to cook up a boat load of eggs and was cringing at using our Guaranteed-Stick pans. I knew it was going to take me like 20 mins of scrubbing before tossing my pans in the dish washer.
That’s where the post came to mind. Why the heck was I spending several hours a month scraping and washing my 2 dollar Ikea pans? This seemed like a perfect opportunity to throw a couple of bucks at my problem and just make cooking less of a pain in the ass
My Research
So, my super secret power is adding “Reddit” to any brand or question. Reddit is a treasure trove of experts and real human opinions. A key piece of my product research is digging through recent posts and seeing what the general consensus is. I do want to highlight that there are instances where a subreddit is flooded with advertisers or companies and opinions get blurry. Those can be pretty easy to spot though. Comments just sound like you copy+pasted a commercial’s copy as a response to a post. The feedback I found on “best pans” came from places like /r/buyitforlife and /r/cooking.
/r/buyitforlife is full of folks that like quality products. I wouldn’t use them for furniture, because I can’t honestly afford buy-it-for-life furniture. Pans are a different story though. The Tramontina pans are actually super budget friendly. I managed to pick up a pair for about $40.
Something that made me more confident in my research was finding that Costco sold the Tramontina pans. If you didn’t know, Costco is well known for doing extensive product research before putting an item on their shelf. They typically don’t have a suite of products in a space, they’ll have some of the highest quality products in that space. In this instance Costco verified my ad-hoc research that Tramontina was the route to go. Unfortunately the pans were out of stock at Costco, so I just ordered them off Amazon.
Why I Call Tramontina the Best Frying Pan Ever
It’s been about a year now and I’ve been so happy with these pans. More often than not I can just wipe my pans down and toss them in the dish washer. They come out clean as a whistle an hour later. Eggs don’t stick. I can decrease how much oil I use when I cook because even with the slightest bit of oil, my food just slides around. My tofu is the tastiest it’s ever been, my meal prepping is the fastest it’s ever been, and I can honestly say it only cost me $40.
Spend the money, you won’t regret it.
